A case of a man allegedly pushing his wife into prostitution has come to light in Baddi industrial area of Solan district in Himachal Pradesh.
The police have started action by registering a case on the complaint of the victim. According to information, the complaint has been received by the Baddi police from the Mahila police station at Panchkula in Haryana that a four-month pregnant woman had levelled allegations of prostitution against her husband, who was a resident of Uttar Pradesh. The accused has been working in Baddi.
The victim alleged that she met the accused three years ago at a wedding in Delhi. She alleged the accused came with her from Delhi to Mohali where he physically abused her.
The victim alleged that the accused pushed her into prostitution on the pretext of marriage. He would take her to different hotels in Punjab, Himachal and Jammu, she alleged. The victim said they got married in August 2021 after she threatened to lodge a police complaint regarding his activities. “But even after marriage, he didn’t mend his ways and again pushed her into prostitution. I even underwent two abortions before marriage. Now, I am four-month pregnant and my husband has fled to uP while leaving me helpless here in Panchkula,” she alleged.
Baddi DSP Navdeep Singh said that on the basis of the woman’s complaint, the police have started action against the accused. He said the victim’s medical had been done while a search had been launched to nab the accused.
