One person was killed in the heavy rains that lashed Chamba district late on Thursday night. The victim has been identified as Karam Chand, a resident of Ladera.
The accident occurred on Tunnu Hatti-Kakira road in Chamba as water levels in drains rose due to heavy rains.
The body was taken to the Dalhousie hospital by the Baloch police team. The accident was confirmed by Chamba SP, Anil Kumar.
Mandi-Kullu highway blocked again
The heavy rains lashing the state have resulted in a spate of landslides in mountainous areas. The Chandigarh-Manali National Highway was once again closed at 7 miles near Mandi due to a landslide.
According to information given to the media, the road between Mandi and Kullu was closed again since midnight due to the landslide.
Due to this, there was a heavy traffic jam on the alternate road via Katola-Mandi-Kullu. The closure of the highway also led to a heavy traffic load on this route with a serpentine queue of vehicles stranded up to several kilometres.
