Hamirpur : The court issued orders on Wednesday for the release on bail of Uma Azad, her son Nikhil Azad, and agent Sanjeev Kumar, who are the main accused in the high-profile paper leak case involving the dissolved Himachal Pradesh Staff Selection Commission in Hamirpur.
These three accused individuals connected to the paper leak case are expected to return to their homes on Friday, September 8, after completing certain formalities. This bail pertains to the first FIR registered in post code 965 related to the paper case, which was filed on December 23, 2022, at the Vigilance Police Station in Hamirpur. In the paper leak case, over 13 cases have been re-registered across 14 different postcodes, with charges filed against 25 accused individuals.
To provide some context, the main accused in the case, Uma Azad, and her sons were initially arrested by the Vigilance team on December 23, 2022, from their Housing Board residence. Subsequently, Sanjeev Kumar, who operated a computer center in Anu and worked as an agent in the paper leak case, was also arrested. Sanjeev’s role involved facilitating the purchase of exam papers by connecting buyers with the main accused.
Currently, these accused individuals were in judicial custody.
After 8 months and 13 days, these accused individuals, who have been granted bail, will be released from detention. It’s worth noting that in this widely publicized paper leak case, the main accused, her two sons, and agent Sanjeev have been named in several FIRs. Additional cases have been registered against numerous candidates who purchased papers during the incident.
