The process of expansion of Kangra Airport has been accelerated. After getting approval from the Cabinet, now the plan has been sent to the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
After getting consent from AAI, the government will issue the notification and after that, all the formalities including land acquisition will start. The administration has also prepared software for this process on the basis of prior planning. This makes the whole process easy and quick to complete.
A meeting was organised on Friday under the chairmanship of Kangra Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal regarding the expansion of Kangra Airport. The Deputy Commissioner said that the activities related to the expansion of Kangra Airport were discussed in detail with the officials of various departments. He said that Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has expressed commitment to developing Kangra district as the tourism capital of the state.
He said that the possible action that can be taken regarding airport expansion in the coming time has been discussed in the meeting with the departments concerned. He said that talks were held regarding the necessary action to be taken by the administration and departments in the coming days regarding airport expansion. During this, officers of various departments including ADM Rohit Rathore, Kangra SDM Naveen Tanwar, Shahpur SDM Kartar Chand, and district tourism development officer Vinay Dhiman were present.
