“‘Tuha ae ni sochna Kangana koi heroine aa, tuha ae ni sochna Kangana koi star hai… tuha ae hi sochna ki Kangana tuhadi behen hai, beti hai’… sogi sogi chalna… koi kamin ni chadni tuhadi sewa ch (don’t every think I am an actress or a star, always consider me as your daughter or sister… will leave no stone unturned to serve you),” BJP candidate from Mandi constituency Kangana Ranaut started her election campaign in style on Friday (March 29, 2024), addressing gatherings in chaste Pahari.
The Bollywood actress, who is fighting her maiden election, first held a meeting with BJP officials and the workers of Sarkaghat division in which local BJP MLA Dalip Thakur was also present. She will also participate in the Mandi parliamentary constituency meeting to be held in Mandi in April. Kangana will garner support for herself in Lahaul-Spiti Assembly constituency too and will also campaign in favour of BJP’s Assembly bypoll candidate Ravi Thakur.
After the announcement of her candidature, Kangana visited Delhi where she met BJP national president JP Nadda and several other senior leaders of the party. She returned from Delhi on Friday. She reached her home Bhambla in Mandi from Chandigarh by road and was welcomed with a band at Banoh on the border of Bilaspur-Mandi districts.
From there, Kangana travelled to Sarkaghat in an open vehicle with BJP workers welcoming her at various places from Banoh to Sarkaghat. The BJP has decided to make the 10-year achievements of the Narendra Modi-led union government and the 15-month alleged failure of the state government and respect for women as election issues.
Kangana is the first woman to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Himachal Pradesh on the BJP ticket. She is known for expressing her views in favour of the central government, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah on various issues, including Ram Mandir, farmer movement and Article 370.
