In response to Congress Chief Minister Sukhwinder Sukhu’s presentation of the state budget, Jairam Thakur, the Leader of Opposition in the Himachal Assembly, expressed discontent and launched a scathing critique against the CM and his party.

Thakur accused them of a history of false assurances and strategic budgetary commitments designed to sway voters ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Thakur highlighted a lack of progress on 95% of the projects and announcements from the previous budget, characterizing the current budget as repetitive.

He alleged that the CM aimed to deceive the public with grand claims, pointing to a pattern of unfulfilled promises and opportunistic announcements by the ruling party.

The BJP leader further claimed that the Sukhu government had accrued loans exceeding Rs 1,400 crore during their 14-month tenure, criticizing the repetition of promises, especially concerning the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for milk, without delivering on past commitments.

Thakur lamented the delay in implementing public welfare initiatives introduced by the previous BJP administration, valued at approximately Rs 350 crores. He emphasized current grievances among employees, pensioners, and the unemployed, citing instances of wage delays across various sectors.

In addition, Thakur criticized the budget for lacking specific commitments to various segments of society, accusing the government of resorting to falsehoods to gain support before elections. He expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of such strategies, asserting that public trust in the current administration has significantly diminished.
