DHARAMSHALA: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur highlighted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “election guarantees” as listed in the BJP’s manifesto as “24 carat gold”, emphasising their reliability and value.
Addressing a press conference in Dharamshala on Monday (April 15, 2024) morning, Jai Ram spoke on key issues. He said the guarantees included schemes like free ration distribution. The BJP unveiled its manifesto on Sunday, reminiscing about past achievements and outlining ambitious promises for the future.
Jai Ram showcased the party’s accomplishments under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, including initiatives like the “PM Guarantee”, revocation of Article 370, empowering women through legislative reforms and providing free ration to millions.
Promising continuity, the manifesto pledged to extend schemes such as free ration and transgender inclusion in healthcare, while introducing new initiatives like the “Surya Ghar Yojana” for rural electrification and the “1 Crore Lakhpati Didi Yojana” aimed at empowering women financially. Emphasizing on ethical governance, the BJP reiterated its commitment to zero tolerance for corruption.
In addition to policy announcements, Jai Ram also spoke about the political challenges faced by the party amid reports indicating internal dissent and defamation allegations against certain members.
