Chamba: Shivani Mehla, recently appointed as Assistant Superintendent of Police at Chamba, delivered an inspiring life coaching session to the district’s top-performing students, with a notable majority of them being girls. She was acting as Chief guest at Shining Star Awards 2024.
Addressing an audience of around 300 students, Mehla began her speech by discussing essential habits and routines necessary for achieving success. She emphasized the importance of self-reliance, particularly urging the girls in attendance to take charge of their own futures.
“It is you who must stand for yourself; no one else will come and fight for your success,” Mehla stated. “None of your relatives or friends will do it for you. This is a reality.”
These powerful words resonated with the students, especially the girls, providing them with clear guidance on planning their futures. Mehla highlighted that, while compassion and innocence are often associated with girls, they must also cultivate discipline and focus to succeed in a competitive world.
Mehla advised all students to prioritize studying printed materials over relying on social media, which she described as a major distraction. “No one can become an IAS or IPS officer just by using social media,” she added, stressing the need for serious and focused study habits.
A 2020 batch IPS officer from Haryana, Mehla is currently serving in Himachal Pradesh. She extended an open invitation to the students, encouraging them to seek her guidance for their careers.
The event, held at the Durbar Hall of Chamba, was met with enthusiastic applause from the students, who were visibly motivated by Mehla’s speech. Several students took the opportunity to ask her direct questions, which she answered promptly and thoughtfully.
