IPL 2024 Final: KKR vs SRH Showdown in Chennai – Who Will Clinch the Trophy?

The IPL 2024 final between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is set to take place this Sunday at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium. Under Shreyas Iyer’s captaincy, KKR topped the table and secured their final spot by defeating SRH in Qualifier-1. Meanwhile, Pat Cummins, leading SRH for the first time in IPL, guided his team to the final by overcoming Rajasthan Royals in the second qualifier.
Cummins, also the regular captain for Australia’s Test and ODI teams, has had a stellar run with Australia, including winning the ICC World Test Championship in 2023 and the ODI World Cup last year. If Cummins’ good luck continues, KKR might miss out on the trophy. Known for his exceptional leadership since November 2021, Cummins’ players tend to shine under his command.
KKR is eager to end a 10-year IPL trophy drought at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. The team has won two titles (2012, 2014) under Gautam Gambhir, who now serves as their mentor. This will be KKR’s fourth IPL final, their last appearance being in 2021, where they lost to Chennai Super Kings by 27 runs. On the other hand, SRH has one title to their name, won in 2016 under David Warner’s leadership. This will be SRH’s third final, with their previous final appearance in 2018 ending in an eight-wicket loss to CSK.

Ahead of the IPL 2024 final, KKR’s captain Shreyas Iyer and SRH’s captain Pat Cummins participated in a photoshoot in Chennai. Iyer is leading KKR in the IPL final for the second time, while Cummins is making his debut as a captain in the IPL final. The photoshoot featured both captains posing with the IPL trophy by the sea and in an auto-rickshaw.
