Dharamshala: As the Congress party gears up to mark its one-year anniversary in power, concerns arise over potential fissures within the party coming to the forefront during the celebratory event at the Police Ground in Dharamshala.
Instances of internal discord have previously marred public rallies, particularly in January this year. With the party completing its first year in governance, uncertainties loom over its ability to present a united front.
Sources reveal that longstanding divisions within the ruling party, exacerbated by feelings of neglect among certain MLAs, may escalate, casting a shadow over the commemorative rally. The absence of consultation with State Congress President Pratibha Singh for the event has already been a point of contention, reflecting deeper issues within the party.
The fissures first became evident earlier this year when Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh visited Dharamshala. During the event, only Pratibha Singh mentioned the name of Congress veteran leader Virbhadra Singh, while a conspicuous sidelining of a key Virbhadra Singh ally, sitting Congress MLA Sudhir Sharma, led to the incident going viral.
As the anniversary rally unfolds, the spotlight is on the stage dynamics, with observers and supporters keenly watching whether the Congress can navigate internal tensions and present a cohesive front. The potential revelation of fissures during this celebration may have broader implications for the political landscape in Himachal Pradesh.
