INTACH Mandi Chapter organized a remarkable event in Mandi to pay tribute to individuals aged 95 and above, celebrating their invaluable contributions to the region’s history and culture. The ceremony, held at a prestigious venue, gathered distinguished guests, including centenarians such as 102-year-old Devi Chand and 101-year-old Om Chand Kapoor.
Mr. Rohit Rathore, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mandi district, graced the occasion as the chief guest. He commended INTACH Mandi for their initiative, noting the significance of honoring seniors in such a dignified manner. Mr. Rathore expressed admiration for the familial support shown by the seniors’ children and assured them of his continued assistance.
In his welcome address, INTACH Coordinator Mr. Naresh Malhotra underscored the importance of respecting and cherishing the elders’ wisdom. He highlighted INTACH’s longstanding engagement with these individuals, seeking their insights into local customs and historical events.
The event featured cultural performances by Neerja Sharma, Hem Lata Puri, Meena, Premlata, and Ahilya, who entertained the guests with poetry and songs. Renowned writer Rekha Vashisht captivated attendees with a heartfelt poem dedicated to grandmothers.
Key members of INTACH Mandi Chapter, along with prominent city guests and relatives of the honorees, attended the event, making it a memorable gathering. In his closing remarks, Co-coordinator Mr. Anil Sharma expressed deep gratitude to all participants for making the ceremony a resounding success.
