The ongoing heavy rainfall in Himachal Pradesh has led to significant disruptions in the state’s infrastructure. As of Thursday morning, 72 roads have been affected by landslides, including one major national highway. The incessant rain has caused numerous landslides, particularly impacting the Kalka-Shimla National Highway-5, where locations like Tambumod and Chakkimod are experiencing intermittent traffic disruptions.
In addition to roadblocks, over 469 power transformers are non-functional, leaving many residents without electricity. The Public Works Department (PWD) has reported losses amounting to ₹600 crores this fiscal year, attributed to washed-away roads and damaged bridges.

Minister Vikramaditya Singh has criticized the central government for insufficient assistance, highlighting that support from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been minimal despite the severe conditions.
Authorities are working diligently to clear debris and restore access to affected areas. However, with a moderate flood risk in several districts, the situation remains precarious. Residents are encouraged to exercise caution and stay informed about road conditions.
