
Indian hockey teams have officially pulled out of 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham citing COVID-19 situation in the UK and mandatory 10-day quarantine rule for Indians, among others. Hockey India’s release said that their priority is the Asian Games, which is the continental qualification event for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The team which got much appreciation for winning a medal at Tokyo 2020 is in high spirits and will look to qualify for Olympics at the Asian games. Recently, Rupinder Pal Singh and Birender Lakra announced their retirement form hockey, so we might get to see new faces in the upcoming games.
