11-year-old Gujarat girl suffering from brain tumour made Collector for a day


An 11-year-old girl, Flora Asodia, who is suffering from a brain tumour was made the Ahmedabad Collector on Saturday. Asodia, a Class 7 student, always dreamt of becoming a Collector, her father said. Ahmedabad Collector Sandip Sagale also celebrated her birthday, which is on September 25. The Make-A-Wish Foundation had requested Sagale to make Asodia the Collector for a day.

India sees 30,773 new COVID cases, 62% cases reported from Kerala; 309 deaths


India has reported 30,773 new COVID-19 cases and 309 deaths in the last 24 hours. Kerala accounted for 62% of the new cases in the country as it reported 19,325 COVID cases and 143 deaths. India’s active caseload stood at 3,32,158, and the death toll surged to 4,44,838. India’s daily positivity rate stood at 1.97%.

Centre changes domestic flight fare band rule, applicable for 15 days a month


The Centre has changed the domestic flight fare band rule, making it applicable for 15 days instead of 30 days. This means that airlines will be able to charge without any limits from the 16th day onwards. The government had imposed lower and upper limits on airfares based on flight duration in May 2020, when services resumed after two-month lockdown.

Government warns of Serotype-II dengue cases in 11 states; suggests steps to control it


The Centre highlighted the “emerging challenge” of Serotype-II dengue in 11 states namely, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, MP, UP, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Telangana. The disease is linked to more cases and more complications than other types of dengue. It suggested steps like fever helplines, stocking test kits, medicines etc, to control the disease.

Punjab CM Amarinder Singh resigns along with his Council of Ministers


Captain Amarinder Singh has stepped down from the post of Punjab CM, after being asked to do so by the Congress high command. Singh met Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit and submitted resignations of his Council of Ministers along with his own, his media advisor said. Singh today called a meeting of Congress MLAs loyal to him at his official residence.
