Shimla: Residents and visitors in the capital city of Shimla can now delight in the experience of ice skating. The trial run for ice skating at the Shimla Skating Rink has been successful, paving the way for regular sessions starting from tomorrow. Initially, skating sessions will be held from 8 AM to 10 AM, with the possibility of an additional evening session if weather conditions permit.
Shimla boasts a significant attraction for ice skating, particularly during the winter months. Although skating typically commences around December 10th, inclement weather often causes delays.
However, preparations are underway this time, with successful trials and scheduled skating sessions set to begin tomorrow.
The Shimla Skating Club has decided not to increase the skating fees this season. The fees have been fixed at INR 3000 for adults for the entire season, INR 3500 for couples, INR 1800 for seniors, and INR 1200 for juniors (below 16 years). Tourists will be charged a fee of INR 300 per session.
Rajat Malhotra, the Organizing Secretary of the Shimla Ice Skating Club, confirmed that a successful trial run took place today, and the rink is fully frozen. Consequently, skating will commence from Monday, primarily in the morning.
Depending on favorable weather conditions, an evening session will also be introduced.
It is noteworthy that Shimla hosts a natural ice skating rink, attracting skating enthusiasts both locally and from afar every year as winter sets in.
