Dharamshala:JM Pathania, a renowned IAS officer from Himachal Pradesh who recently took a volunteer retirement and now serving an advisor to the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission), offered his personal number to participants at the Shining Star Awards 2024 on Tuesday. He made this generous offer while addressing the audience.
“I studied in Dharamshala and have traveled to various parts of the world. One thing I realized is that students in our region often lack proper career counseling and tend to choose their careers based on the professionals they encounter,” said Pathania.
He observed that if students meet a doctor, they often aspire to become doctors, and the same pattern follows for other professions like chartered accountants, lawyers, and others.
After the event, Pathania reported that around 10 to 15 students approached him for career guidance. Approximately 300 students participated in the event.
An interesting highlight of the event was the majority of girls receiving awards. The event’s anchor, Vanshita Sharma, was particularly impressed by the girls’ performance in recent exams and made a special announcement to acknowledge this achievement.
