Projects worth crores were dedicated to Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur and a statue of late Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee was unveiled by him at the university premises to mark the 52nd foundation day of the university.
HPU completed 51 years of its existence on Sunday.
Foundation day dedications
The Chief Minister dedicated a hall worth Rs 16 lakh in teachers’ colony, beautification projects and parking worth Rs 36 lakh, fourth phase of model school worth Rs 1.12 crore, additional floor for the faculty house of Academic Saff College worth Rs 1.49 crore, examination store worth Rs 49 lakh, three shops, library building worth Rs 1.07 crore and faculty guest house renovation worth Rs 1.49 crores.
Governor presides over foundation day function
Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, who presided over the foundation day function, said that the autonomous status of the university should be maintained. HPU should become a research centre and the basis of education imparted here should be to build character among its students
CM highlights new education policy
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that the Union government has prepared the National Education Policy 2020 to strengthen the education infrastructure and improve online and technical education for the all-around development of students.
Parking assured
The Chief Minister assured the university to provide them ample parking facilities under the smart city project. He said that the autonomous status of the university would be strengthened.
