Dharamshala: The Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) is thrilled to announce that its stadium in Dharamshala will host five matches of the upcoming Cricket World Cup, set to kick off on October 7, 2023.
Despite facing challenging weather conditions over the past three months, HPCA has persevered in its preparations to ensure a seamless and exciting experience for both players and fans. Avinish Parmar, Honorary Secretary of HPCA, expressed confidence in the state of readiness, emphasizing that all arrangements are proceeding as planned.
HPCA has left no stone unturned in enhancing the stadium’s facilities to create an exceptional cricketing environment. Some key highlights include:
Ground and Pitches: The ground and its nine pitches, known for providing a true bounce, are being meticulously prepared to meet the highest standards.
Drainage System: The stadium now boasts a state-of-the-art drainage system with air evacuation capabilities, ensuring that play can quickly resume even after heavy rain.
Spectator Comfort: The stands have been refurbished to offer a modern look. Additionally, 26 state-of-the-art toilets and free drinking water facilities have been installed to ensure the comfort of fans and spectators.
Seating Capacity and Luxury Boxes: The stadium can accommodate up to 20,200 spectators, with 17 hospitality boxes and a club lounge. There’s also a VIP gallery overlooking the majestic Dhaula Dhar Ranges, capable of hosting up to 1,000 guests.
Practice Facilities: The practice area has been revamped with ten pitches catering to various training needs. Floodlights have been installed for extended practice hours, and an indoor training facility is also available for the players.
Enhanced Dressing Rooms: Improvements have been made to the dressing rooms, providing comfortable seating, dedicated lockers, sauna baths, and ice bath tubs. Players can enjoy a picturesque view of the ground while preparing for their matches.
Façade Lighting and Granite Walkways: To enhance the overall visitor experience, the stadium now features façade lighting and granite walkways, offering a fresh and beautiful dimension to the surroundings.
During his visit to the Dharamshala ground on September 9, 2023, Mr. Jay Shah, Honorary Secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), expressed his satisfaction with the ongoing arrangements put in place by HPCA. His positive assessment underscores HPCA’s commitment to hosting a world-class cricket event.
