HP Board 12th results: Four girls bag top three slots; students from Kangra, Kullu share first position

Girls have outshone boys in the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) Class 12 examination, the results of which were announced in Dharamshala on Monday (April 29, 2024).
Kamakshi Sharma and Chhaya Chauhan shared the overall top position in the HPBOSE 12th results, securing 98.80 per cent marks (494 out of 500). Kamakshi is a student of Bharti Vidyapeeth Public Senior Secondary Schools at Baijnath in Kangra district and Chhaya of Snower Valley Public School at Bajaura in Kullu.
Shruti Sharma of SD Public School, Hamirpur, has stood second with 98.4 per cent marks (492/500). Angel of Minerva Senior Secondary School, Ghumarwin, has stood fourth with 98.2 per cent marks (491/500).
As many as 41 students — among them 30 girls — have shared the top 10 positions. Overall, 73.76 per cent students have cleared the examination, the results of which were revealed at a press conference held at the HPBOSE headquarters in Dharamshala.
Kangra Deputy Commissioner and HPBOSE Chairman Hemraj Bairwa alongside Board Secretary Vishal Sharma declared the results during the press briefing. Students can access their marks online using their roll numbers via the official website of HPBOSE.
According to officials, a total of 85,777 candidates appeared for the examination, of whom 63,092 successfully cleared it. The results were declared within 25 days of the conclusion of the examination in March-April 20204.
Providing insights into the results, Bairwa mentioned that 10 students were from government schools, while 31 were from private institutions. However, it was noted that this year’s pass percentage is marginally lower compared to the previous year, which stood at 79.4. Additionally, a total of 13,276 students will have to appear for compartment examinations.
The results for the HPBOSE Class 10 examinations are expected to be announced within a week.
