A youth and his family in Ramnagar were terrorised by a group led by a local hotelier’s son and his friends who belong to influential families around midnight on Monday.
Case registered against assailants
Police have registered cases against the six youths who are accused of landing up at the residence of Arjun Sood in Ek Jot Colony of Ramnagar and terrorising the family.
The two vehicles in which the assailants had reached Ramnagar were abandoned when they had run away after the police were notified. The vehicles have been seized.
Dharamshala police station in-charge Rajesh Kumar told TNR that the cases have been registered under Sections 341, 147, 149, 504 and 506 of IPC for threatening lives, gathering with the intention of assault, breaking the peace and abusing. Complaint was filed by Sidharth Sood, elder brother of Arjun.
Victim, family’s lives threatened
Sources in the police department have informed that the family was terrorised due to some old enmity. The assailants are also accused of showering abuses on the victim and his family members.
Assailants flee
The assailants continued their violent act for nearly an hour. However, as soon as they realised that the police were arriving they ran away from the spot on foot.
Victims allege pressure on them for withdrawing complaint
Meanwhile, a letter, addressed to the secretary of the Press Club of Dharamshala has been sent on Wednesday by Sidharth Sood.
The letter, carrying the signature of Sidharth Sood, has also been sent to the police station in-charge of Dharamshala. It has been alleged in the letter that they (Sood family) were receiving threats to take the case back.
The letter also said that the accused were threatening to file counter cases against the Sood family and also spoil their name through media.
The letter said that these powerful people can do anything as they have already tried to enter their house and hotel.
