Himalayan Tribe Foundation conducts successful cleanup of Kinnaur Kailash Yatra route
MANDI: Aiming to preserve the pristine beauty of sacred pilgrimage routes, the Himalayan Tribe Foundation, in partnership with Healing Himalayas, successfully organised a cleanup of the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra route.
The initiative took place from August 21 to August 24, with the full support of the Kinnaur Kailash Yatra Organising Committee.
During the cleanup, a team of dedicated volunteers managed to collect approximately one pickup truck’s worth of plastic waste. This waste was transported to the garbage collection center in Rakchham, highlighting the commitment of all parties involved to environmental stewardship.

The cleanup saw the enthusiastic participation of 30 to 35 young volunteers from the Himalayan Tribe Foundation. Their efforts underscore the organisation’s belief in minimising plastic use at sacred sites to mitigate future environmental impacts.
The foundation also extended its congratulations to the Kailash Yatra Committee for their exceptional dedication to maintaining cleanliness amidst the demanding conditions of the journey. Building on their commitment to environmental conservation, the Himalayan Tribe Foundation has previously conducted similar cleanups at Shrikhand and is planning future initiatives, including a cleanup at Yula Kanda.
