DHARAMSHALA: The executive committee of the Himachal Pradesh Youth Congress held a meeting in Dharamshala on Saturday to formulate a strategy for the Lok Sabha election and byelection to the local Assembly seat.
The meeting was held in Dharamshala to focus on Kangra, which is politically the biggest district in Himachal Pradesh. The meeting was attended by executive committee president Yadupati Thakur, state coordinator Vineet Kamboj, co-coordinator Yogesh Handa and all district presidents and Assembly unit presidents.
Nigam Bhandari, the state president of the Youth Congress, emphasised that the Youth Congress would engage with the public on employment issues during the Lok Sabha elections. He criticised the Narendra Modi government for failing to fulfill its promise of providing jobs to two crore youths each year, highlighting the rising unemployment rates in both the country and the state. The meeting also discussed corruption allegations against the ruling party and the freezing of opposition party accounts under the guise of electoral bonds.
The state president stated that the Congress would soon announce its candidates for the Lok Sabha and by-elections. The names of potential candidates were deliberated upon during a recent meeting. The Youth Congress has put forward the names of young leaders for consideration in the upcoming elections. It is expected that the state coordinator will advocate for the inclusion of youth candidates in both Lok Sabha and by-elections. The Youth Congress remains optimistic that its leaders will be fielded in some capacity in the upcoming elections.
