Himachal weather: Yellow alert for heavy rain issued in 10 districts tomorrow
Himachal Pradesh is set to experience widespread rain over the next 48 hours, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a yellow alert for 10 districts, including Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, Shimla, Solan, Una and Sirmaur.
The heavy rain forecast raises concerns about potential landslides in mountainous areas and waterlogging in low-lying regions.
Tragedy struck at Bharmour in Chamba last evening when a devotee from Punjab lost his life due to falling stones, while a couple from Baijnath sustained injuries in the incident.
Although the monsoon is expected to weaken between August 30 and September 1, it is forecast to become active again starting September 2.

In the last 24 hours, heavy rainfall has led to incidents of landslides and falling of tree in various parts of Shimla, particularly in Toland, New Shimla, Vikasnagar and near the Lift. The Town and Country Planning (TCP) office building in Vikasnagar is now under threat due to a landslide.
Himachal Pradesh has received 23 per cent less rainfall than usual this monsoon season, with only 453.4 mm of rain recorded from June 1 to August 27, compared to the normal 591.8 mm. Shimla remains the exception, having received 531 mm of rainfall so far, exceeding its usual 500.3 mm.
