The weather in Himachal Pradesh may again turn adverse as the Meteorological Centre in Shimla has forecast a change from Monday (March 11, 2024) till Thursday. A western disturbance is expected to sweep the region, prompting authorities to issue a yellow alert for rain and snowfall on March 12 and 13.
According to the forecast, Monday and Tuesday are likely to witness rain and snowfall in select middle and high-altitude regions. However, the intensity is expected to escalate on March 13, with widespread rain and snowfall projected for most middle and high-altitude areas, accompanied by rain in lower parts.
Some middle and high-altitude regions may experience rainfall on March 14 as well. A yellow alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightening has been issued for isolated places on March 12 and 13.
As Himachal braces for the change in weather pattern, residents and travellers have been advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the evolving conditions. The authorities have urged people to take necessary precautions to mitigate potential risks associated with inclement weather, especially in high-altitude regions prone to snowfall, slippery road conditions and avalanches.
“The weather was dry over the state during last 24 hours. No large change in minimum temperatures and appreciable rise in maximum temperatures during last 24 hours was witnessed. The average minimum temperatures were below normal and maximum temperatures were normal,” said the Meteorological Centre in a statement.
