With the Meteorological department predicting dry weather for another week, apple orchardists and farmers as well as those associated with tourism have started feeling worried.
The orchardists and farmers begin winter chores at this point in time while the tourism industry has been praying for a white Christmas and New Year so as to emerge from the losses suffered by them over the past two years due to Covid.
According to the Meteorological department, there will be dry weather in almost all parts of the state till December 20. The weatherman has issued a yellow warning for moderate to dense fog at isolated pockets in Bilaspur, Kangra and Mandi districts in the morning hours, which may affect commuting.
Over the past 24 hours, the lowest temperature of -5.5 degrees Celsius was recorded at Keylong, the headquarters of tribal Lahaul-Spiti district. Una was the hottest at 27.4 degrees Celsius. No large change in minimum and maximum was observed, weather official said.
In technical terms, the western disturbance as a trough in middle tropospheric westerlies with its axis at 5.8 km level has been running roughly along longitude 68°E and latitude 32°N.
