Himachal weather: Met issues yellow alert for heavy rain on Sept 15, 16

Heavy rainfall is expected in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh on September 15 and 16, according to the Meteorological department. The weatherman has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightening on the two days.

For September 13, 14 and 17, the weatherman has forecast clear weather in most parts of the state with slight possibility of rain at isolated parts of the state.

Heavy rain again lashed Himachal capital Shimla on Monday afternoon. The town recorded 90 mm of rain over the last two days. Shimla has been receiving rain in the afternoon daily for the past two days.

Over the past 24 hours, Dhulakuan in Sirmaur received the highest rainfall at 39.5 mm, followed by Pachhad (Sirmaur) at 14.1 mm, Kotkhai (Shimla) 10.3 mm, Paonta Sahib 9.5 mm, Shimla 6.3 mm and Nahan and Solan 2.8 mm each.

According to the bulletin issued by the State Disaster Management Authority, 333 people lost their lives due to rain in the state this monsoon season.

No large change in maximum and minimum temperatures was witnessed in the state over the past 24 hours with Kukumseri in Lahaul and Spiti district the coldest at 8.9 degrees Celsius and Una the hottest at 34.8 degrees Celsius.
