Himachal weather: Fresh western disturbance to add to monsoon intensity after 2 days, Met issues yellow alert

The weather in Himachal Pradesh has become pleasant due to fresh snowfall in the higher reaches of mountains. The weather is expected to remain clear in the state for two days and after that, the monsoon can again become intense.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to remain clear at most of the places on September 7 and 8. On September 9 and 10, a yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall in all districts of the state barring Lahaul & Spiti. There is a possibility of heavy rain as the western disturbance is expected to become active.

On Tuesday, the sky remained clear and sunny in most parts in the state while snowfall was experienced in the peaks, including Tangalangala Pass. Tourists going to and from Leh were seen enjoying in snow. Towards Manali, all the peaks, including Chandrakhani, Rohtang, Makarveda, Shikarveda, Dasauhar, Dhundi Jot, Hanuman Tibba and Bhrigu wore the white mantel of snow.

At Rohtang, snowfall was experienced in all high-altitude areas, including CB13 and 14, Shinkula and Baralacha hills, Lady of Keylong, Neelkanth Jot. There, however, was no traffic disruption on the Manali-Kaza, Manali-Leh, Tandi-Sansari and Darcha-Shinkula- Paddum roads.

Over the past 24 hours, Pandoh in Mandi received 22 mm of rain, which was the highest in the state. Pandoh was followed by Rohru (Shimla) at 14 mm and Rampur (Shimla) at 9.8. As many as 37 roads still lie closed for traffic in the state. At 8.30 am on September 7, Kalpa in Kinnaur was the coldest at 10.5 degrees Celsius while Una was the hottest at 35.6 degrees Celsius in the state.
