A heavy rain alert has been issued for several parts of Himachal Pradesh for the next four days.

Shimla has been shrouded in fog since morning on Wednesday (July 17, 2024), adding to the weather’s impact. In Una, heavy rain began at around 12 noon, bringing much-needed relief from the scorching heat and high humidity that affected life earlier in the day. The downpour ended a 15-day dry spell, with residents coming out to enjoy the refreshing change in weather. This rain is also seen as a boon for agriculture, especially for maize crops in non-irrigated areas, as it will enhance crop growth.

Meteorological Centre’s forecast

The Meteorological Centre in Shimla has issued a heavy rain alert for many parts of the state from July 18 to July 21. The department predicts that the rain is likely to continue in various regions of the state until July 23. This forecast indicates a period of sustained rainfall, which is expected to provide much-needed water for crops and replenish water sources across the state.

Advisory for tourists
