Shimla: During the academic session 2024-25, children as young as five years old will be admitted to first grade in schools across Himachal Pradesh.
The Education Department issued a notification regarding this on Friday. Children who turn six years old by September 30, 2024, will be eligible for admission.
This provision is only for this academic session. In the academic session 2025-26, children who turn six years old by April 1 will be admitted to first grade.
Additionally, children older than three years will be admitted to nursery, those older than four years to LKG, and those older than five years to UKG.
