Students of schools affiliated with the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board are a confused lot, not due to their own fault but that of the Board.
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) books are of the revised syllabus. The syllabus has been reduced in these. The students have already started their studies by purchasing these books.
However, till now no notification of the revised syllabus has been issued by the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board.
There has been a major change in the syllabus only for the science subjects of class 12. For example, there were 16 chapters in the chemistry of class 12 earlier, and only 10 are left in the changed syllabus. Students studying in class 12 are confused. The Board is talking about resolving the issue through a committee of experts even as the books have already been purchased by students.
State president of the Government Teachers Association, Virendra Chauhan, said that he has talked to the Board of Education in this regard and has urged them to solve the problem soon.
Board secretary Dr Vishal Sharma said that he is aware of the problem. At present the subject experts of the board are busy evaluating the answer sheets of classes 10 and 12. After the evaluation work is over, this problem will be resolved by meeting with the subject experts.
