BJP slams Congress government over three-year celebration, calls it a 'Festival of Failures'

Shimla – As the Himachal Pradesh Congress government prepares to celebrate three years in office, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched a scathing attack, questioning the very basis of the celebration and accusing the ruling party of widespread failure and misgovernance.

Senior BJP spokesperson and MLA Trilok Jamwal criticized the Congress-led administration, stating, “What achievements are they celebrating? For three years, this government has only burdened the public with economic stress and administrative chaos.” He alleged that the tenure has been marked by corruption, legal opacity, inflation, broken promises, and misleading guarantees.

Jamwal further claimed that contractors have not been paid for completed work, pensions have become a source of tension, and dearness allowance (DA) exists only on paper. “Jobs have become a distant dream for the youth, and 28 lakh women are still waiting for their promised ₹1500,” he said. He also accused the government of political protectionism towards land and liquor mafias, and said the rising crime rate reflects the administration’s failure.

BJP state media in-charge Randhir Sharma echoed these sentiments, asserting that the Congress government lacks any moral right to celebrate. “There is no public-centric achievement to justify this event. The government has failed to fulfill even its electoral guarantees,” Sharma said.

He alleged that the state is now on the brink of financial collapse, burdened by ₹1 lakh crore in debt, and unable to pay salaries or pensions on time. Sharma pointed out that road repairs are being funded by central schemes like PMGSY and CRF, while the state budget remains invisible. He also criticized delays in disbursing MLA funds and cuts in discretionary grants.

Sharma accused the government of diverting central funds meant for drinking water schemes and failing to provide adequate disaster relief. “Over 2,000 institutions have been shut down. No new initiatives have been launched. Instead of progress, the state has been pushed backward,” he said.

The BJP leaders concluded that the Congress government’s three-year tenure has been one of disappointment, economic strain, and administrative failure, and that celebrating such a record is unjustified.
