SHIMLA: The residents of Himachal Pradesh may have to wait longer for snowfall and rain as the Meteorological Department has forecast clear weather for the next eight to 10 days. The absence of any major weather disturbance suggests that significant changes are unlikely during this period.
At present, Himachal has been experiencing above-average day temperatures across the state, with Shimla, Sundernagar, Bhuntar and Dharamshala seeing the mercury rise considerably higher than the normal. Over the past 24 hours, Kalpa recorded a maximum temperature of 11 degrees Celsius, which is 5.6 degrees above normal. Similarly, Kangra registered a maximum temperature of 21.3 degrees, exceeding the average by 5.3 degrees. The maximum temperature stood at 14.8 degrees in Shimla, 18.5 degrees in Sundernagar and 19.5 degrees in Dharamshala.
Conversely, minimum temperatures remained either normal or slightly below average. Shimla recorded a minimum temperature of 2.2 degrees Celsius, Sundernagar 0.9 degrees, Bhuntar 0.8 degrees, Dharamshala 5.2 degrees, Una 4.7 degrees and Dalhousie at 2.8 degrees Celsius. In the colder regions, Kalpa reported a chilling -3.2 degrees, Narkanda -2 degrees, Samdho -5.1 degrees and Kukumseri -8.6 degrees Celsius.
Addressing the current weather outlook, Director of the Meteorological Department in Shimla, Surendra Pal, indicated that no major western disturbance was expected to be active in the state this month. While a light western disturbance may manifest in the middle of the month, it is projected to bring only light snowfall in higher elevations, with the possibility of light rain in central and lower parts. As a result, the eagerly awaited precipitation may be delayed, requiring residents to endure the clear weather for a little longer.
