Himachal Pradesh weather update: Despite Met forecast, no sign of snow or rain; it’s whopping 14.2 degrees above normal in Keylong

SHIMLA: Despite earlier predictions indicating a possibility of rain and snow at some high-altitude areas, the prevailing conditions with bright sunshine suggest a reduced likelihood of any such weather activity. The Meteorological Centre, Shimla, however, anticipates the possibility of light rain and snowfall at medium and high-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday (January 17, 2024).

Notably, there has been a slight decline in the daytime temperatures across the state. Nevertheless, the mercury levels remain above normal in most regions. Cities like Shimla, Bhuntar, Kalpa, Dharamshala, Keylong, Kangra and Manali are experiencing higher maximum temperatures. Shimla recorded a temperature variation of 5.9 degrees above normal, Bhuntar 6.8 degrees, Kalpa 9.3 degrees, Dharamshala 4.4 degrees, Keylong 14.2 degrees, Manali 4.2 degrees and Kangra 5 degrees Celsius.

Over the last 24 hours, maximum temperatures were recorded at 16.8 degrees Celsius in Shimla, 19.7 degrees in Sundernagar, 22.5 degrees in Bhuntar, 14.7 degrees in Kalpa, 20 degrees in Dharamshala, 21 degrees in Kangra and 15.2 degrees Celsius in Manali.

Simultaneously, nighttime temperatures in most areas of the state are below normal. Today’s minimum temperatures were recorded at 4 degrees Celsius in Shimla, -0.1 degrees in Sundernagar, 0.1 degrees in Bhuntar, -1.8 degrees in Kalpa and 5.2 degrees Celsius in Dharamshala. In other locations, Mandi recorded a nighttime temperature of -0.2 degrees, Una at -1 degrees Celsius, Manali 0.2 degrees, Reckongpeo at 0.2 degrees, Dalhousie at 4.5 degrees, Kukumseri at -11.1 degrees and Samdho at -2 degrees Celsius.
