The Himachal Pradesh Vigilance Department has arrested three candidates for their alleged involvement in the post code 962 paper leak case pertaining to the recruitment of secretariat clerks that were conducted through the now-disbanded staff selection commission in Hamirpur.
Among those arrested are the brother-in-law, sister and wife of suspended traffic inspector Ravi Kumar. On February 9, the Vigilance had detained Ravi Kumar along with accused Sohan and Uma Azad in connection with the case. However, the investigation progressed further with the arrest of three additional candidates.
The accused were presented before the court, which remanded them in custody. Ravi Kumar’s wife Sapna Kumari, brother-in-law Ravi and sister Sapna Devi, all residents of Hamirpur and Kangra, were taken into custody following revelations of the ongoing investigation.
The vigilance probe has uncovered alleged complicity with Ravi Kumar purportedly providing secretariat clerk recruitment forms to his relatives. The FIR in the post code 962 state secretariat clerk recruitment case was lodged on April 29, 2023.
During the court proceedings held on Tuesday, Ravi’s wife and sister were remanded to judicial custody for 14 days while brother-in-law Ravi was sent to police remand till February 15. Similarly, the court extended the remand of accused Sohan and Ravi Kumar till February 15.
A senior vigilance department officer said that with the investigation still underway, they were pursuing leads and evidence to unravel the full extent of the scam. He said the grilling of the accused is expected to shed further light on who all were involved in the case.
