The World Environment Day was celebrated with fervour at the Himachal Pradesh Central University in Dharamshala with Vice-Chancellor Prof Sat Prakash Bansal and Dean of Student Welfare Prof Sunil Kumar presiding over the initiative.
Volunteers from NSS Unit-01 at Dhauladhar campus led the charge by planting saplings and organizing a programme to promote environmental sensitivity.
The day began with a campus-wide cleanliness drive, eliminating plastic waste to make the entire area plastic-free. The NSS volunteers then tended to previously planted vegetation, emphasising the importance of nurturing existing greenery.
Vivek Sharma, programme officer of NSS Unit-01, spearheaded the plantation and cleanliness drive, stressing the ongoing commitment of NSS volunteers to environmental conservation. He urged everyone to incorporate tree planting into their celebrations and daily lives, highlighting the necessity of nature preservation.
Sixty volunteers from the NSS Unit-01 of the Dhauladhar campus of the Central University participated in this initiative.
