Himachal Pradesh Central University-Dharamshala all set to celebrate 10th International Yoga Day

Dharamshala: The Himachal Pradesh Central University in Dharamshala is set to celebrate its 10th International Yoga Day this year.

The event, which will be held at SAI Athletic Ground in Dharamshala, underscores the theme of “Yoga for Self and Society, for World Humanity”, as designated by the Government of India.

The Yoga Study Centre at the Himachal Pradesh Central University will spearhead efforts to promote and disseminate the importance of yoga to the Dharamshala community. The centre plans to visit various educational institutions to raise public awareness about yoga’s relevance and benefits.

Reflecting on past contributions, in 2022, when the Government of India allowed each province to organise International Yoga Day at a historical location, the Central University Dharamshala coordinated the event for Himachal Pradesh.

The event was graced by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the chief guest. Teachers from Achievers Secondary Public School, Dadhi; Vedanta Public School, Shyamnagar; Dayanand Public School Kachheri, and Police Ground-Sakoh significantly contributed by providing yoga training and enhancing public awareness.

On June 21, approximately 900 participants are expected to practise yoga at SAI Ground. The Central University aims to spread India’s timeless heritage through this event. Among the participants, 500 NCC cadets will ensure their special participation.

Professor Suman Sharma, university Registrar, stated that the university’s teachers and researchers would be present at 6 am to practise yoga. University Vice-Chancellor Acharya Satya Prakash Bansal will address all the yoga practitioners on this occasion, highlighting the significance of the day and the practice of yoga.
