Himachal Pradesh Celebrates State-Level Independence Day Ceremony in Dehra

Dehra – The state-level Independence Day celebration for Himachal Pradesh was held at the Shaheed Bhupnesh Dogra Ground in Dehra. The event saw Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu hoist the national flag at approximately 11:00 AM. He inspected the grand parade and received the march past salute, which featured contingents from the police, home guards, NCC, NSS, scouts, and guides.
Historic Independence Day Celebration
This marked the first time that a state-level Independence Day ceremony was organized in Dehra since the country gained independence. Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted that the state government had taken significant policy decisions, resulting in substantial revenue generation over the past year.

Economic Recovery and Disaster Relief
CM Sukhu remarked on the gradual improvement of the state’s economic condition, acknowledging that the process would take time. He assured that the government is committed to standing shoulder to shoulder with disaster-affected families, and a disaster relief package will be announced after the monsoon season ends. Sukhu also addressed attempts to destabilize the democratically elected state government and the economic burden of by-elections, emphasizing that the public had triumphed over money power with the strength of people’s support.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Himachal Pradesh would be among the most prosperous states in India within the next decade.
Major Announcements
Chief Minister Sukhu made several key announcements:
Full arrears will be provided to pensioners and family pensioners aged 75 years and above within the current financial year.
Pending dues for employees will be settled in a phased manner over the coming years.
Under the Sukha Shiksha Yojana, financial support of ₹1,000 per month will be given to children of widows, destitute, divorced, and disabled parents until they turn 18. Additionally, these children will receive free education up to PhD level, and ₹3,000 per month for postgraduate accommodation if hostels are unavailable.
Claims of those displaced by the Pang Dam will be prioritized.
Resolution of 10,000 to 15,000 legacy cases will occur before the GST implementation.
New offices of the Electricity Board and Water Resources Department’s Superintending Engineer, as well as the BMO office, will be established in Dehra.
Awards and Recognitions
During the ceremony, awards for Himachal Gaurav, Inspiration Source, and Excellence were presented:
Inspiration Source Awards were given to Dr. Rakesh Kumar from Palampur, Padma Shri Mahesh Verma, and Satya Prakash Sharma from Sundernagar.
Himachal Gaurav Awards were conferred upon Kehar Singh from Kullu, Keshav Ram from Solan, and Assistant Commissioner of Tax and Excise Poonam Thakur.
Excellence Awards were given to Arunoday Sharma from Shimla, known from KBC, and the Department of Digital Technology and Governance received the Civil Service Award.
The ceremony was attended by dignitaries including CPS Ashish Butel, Tourism Development Corporation Chairman R.S. Bali, Dehra MLA Kamlesh Thakur, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, and Director General of Police Dr. Atul Verma. The Information and Public Relations Department’s artists performed patriotic songs, and folk dance performances were showcased by artists from various districts.
