Shimla: The forest department of Himachal Pradesh is gearing up to introduce the majestic presence of tigers at Mini Zoo Renukaji. Plans are in motion to bring a tiger pair to the area by May, with preparations including the construction of a spacious enclosure spanning 4750 square meters, at a cost of Rs. 1.50 crore.
Enclosure Construction in Full Swing
Efforts are underway to expedite the enclosure construction, with a strict deadline set for completion by April 30th. Once finished, this enclosure will host the first and only tiger pair in Himachal Pradesh, serving as a major attraction for tourists visiting the region.
Transition from Delhi to Renukaji
The proposed plan involves transporting the tiger pair from Delhi to Renukaji. N. Ravishankar Sharma, DFO Shimla, confirmed the imminent arrival of the tiger pair at Mini Zoo Renukaji. With construction progressing steadily, the aim is to introduce the tiger pair to their new habitat in May.
Transformation of Lion Safari
The lion safari, dormant for eight years, is undergoing a transformation to accommodate the forthcoming tiger pair. A modern enclosure is being erected, emphasizing both functionality and sustainability. Following neutering procedures, the tigers will be relocated to Renukaji, where they will serve as a key attraction for visitors.
Future Prospects
The presence of the tiger pair at Mini Zoo Renukaji is anticipated to elevate tourism in the region. While their primary purpose is to captivate tourists, the successful integration of the tiger pair may pave the way for further expansion or inclusion of additional species in the future.
