Himachal Jal Shakti Minister Mahender Singh and Union Minister for Sports and Information and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur were seen taking a swipe at each other during a public meeting held at Dharampur in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh on Thursday.

While addressing the gathering, Mahender Singh took jibe at the Union Minister saying that barring Anurag Thakur, he had found the “keys to the safe of every Union Minister when it came to the development of his home constituency Dharampur”. “But I could not find the key to Anurag Thakur’s safe,” he said amid an applause from his supporters.

When Anurag Thakur took the stage, he too gave back in an equal measure to Mahender Singh, saying whatever had come for development in Himachal, it had come from the Centre. Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur too was present on the dais when the two BJP leaders made the comments. All that came for the development of Dharampur has come from Delhi. Two Kendriya Vidyalayas have been set up. No stone will be left unturned in the further development of the constituency. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given special status to Himachal. The people of the state have benefitted from the Jal Jeevan Mission and Ujjwala Yojana,” said Anurag.

However, Mahender Singh and Anurag Thakur could also be seen putting in a word of praise for each other. Mahender said the development of the country and the state had been possible only due to the BJP leadership. Anurag said Mahender Singh had done what no one could even imagine for his constituency. “Whatever is left, that too will be done. Adequate funds will be provided for the construction of sports grounds and stadiums in Dharampur,” said the Union Minister.

Chief Minister Jai Ram inaugurated and laid foundation stone for 92 developmental projects worth about Rs 980 crore in Sidhpur and Cholthara during a day-long visit to Dharampur constituency of Mandi district.
