Himachal jobs: Sukhu govt to soon fill nearly 700 posts in health department

In a significant move to bolster the healthcare system in Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu announced the government’s plan to fill 30 posts of medical officers in the Emergency Medicine Department at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC). Additionally, 600 staff nurses and 43 operation theatre assistants will soon be deployed at the IGMC, further enhancing the medical services.

The Chief Minister made the announcement while presiding over a meeting with health department officials. He emphasised the state government’s commitment to filling vacant positions for doctors, paramedical staff and technicians, alongside the ongoing development of health infrastructure.

“Better medical services are being provided at the IGMC, and specialist medical facilities are being made available by filling the posts of doctors at Atal Super Specialty Institute in Chamiyana,” said CM Sukhu. He assured that there was no shortage of budget to provide modern health facilities to the people of the state.

To further modernise the IGMC, the government would allocate Rs 25 crore for the purchase of state-of-the-art equipment and machines. The investment, he said, was aimed at ensuring that the institution was well-equipped to meet the medical needs of the people.

At the meeting, Health Minister Dhani Ram Shandil, Chief Parliamentary Secretary (CPS) Sanjay Awasthy, Shimla MLA Harish Janartha, Principal Secretary (Finance) Devesh Kumar, Health Secretary M.Sudha Devi, Secretary to the Chief Minister Rakesh Kanwar and other officials were present.
