The Himachal government will pay the fees of about 2,800 students studying in private schools in the state.
The Directorate of Elementary Education has constituted a committee to pay the fees of these students belonging to economically weaker sections. The first installment will be released to private schools by July 31 and the second and final installment by January 31, 2024.
Under the Right to Education Act, it is mandatory to admit 25 percent of students from economically weaker sections in private schools.
A notification in this regard was issued by the Directorate of Elementary Education on Friday. About 2,800 students belonging to economically weaker sections have been given admission into various private schools in the state.
The district deputy director of Elementary Education has been appointed as the chairman of the committee constituted to pay fees to private schools.
