The Himachal government will come up with a white paper on the economic plight of the state within a month.

This decision was taken in the Cabinet sub-committee meeting held at the secretariat under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri on Friday.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh along with officials of the

Finance Department were present in the meeting. Agnihotri said that the public will be made aware of the economic mismanagement of the previous BJP government.
The Deputy Chief Minister claimed that the state government has taken more loans at present to repay the huge loans taken during the time of the previous BJP government.
Minister Chandra Kumar, the other member of the committee formed to prepare the white paper, did not attend the meeting. Agnihotri said that two more meetings would be held soon.

In the first meeting on Friday, information about income expenditure and resources was gathered. The committee will look into every issue related to finance. The full report will be placed before the public.

Talking to the media persons after the meeting, Agnihotri said that the previous BJP government had mismanaged the state’s finances in the last five years. BJP has proved to be a failure in the field of finance due to which today, a mountain of debt has to be cleared by the state government.

Due to the wrong policies and programmes of the previous government, the state’s debt has increased, Agnihotri said adding that the previous government did not take any steps to reduce wasteful expenditure, did not take steps to increase financial resources, and did not even try to get financial help from the Union government.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Cabinet sub-committee will also make recommendations to increase the state’s income. A report will be prepared regarding this.
