Himachal govt declares JOA-IT 817 results, but 23 post code jobs still stuck due to recruitment scam
Though the results of the much-awaited JOA-IT 817 recruitment exams have been declared, the recruitment landscape in Himachal Pradesh remains clouded by uncertainty.
The newly formed State Selection Commission, responsible for streamlining the recruitment process, is yet to declare the results of the Computer-Based Test (CBT) conducted as part of a pilot recruitment effort.

This delay has been compounded by the government’s recent decision to fill approximately 2,000 posts across various departments, including Tanda Medical College, IGMC, Education Department, Home Department and the Police Department. These appointments were approved during state cabinet meetings in July and August, reflecting the government’s commitment to addressing the employment gap.
However, the unresolved complexities stemming from the paper leak case continue to cast a long shadow over the recruitment process.
The fallout from the paper leak scandal has significantly hampered the declaration of results for 23 post codes, dating back to the time of the now-dissolved commission.
Vigilance investigation underway
These results, vital for filling hundreds of positions, have been mired in uncertainty as the vigilance department is investigating candidates named in the FIR related to post codes 903 and 939. The new commission is now tasked with the delicate job of navigating these legal intricacies to ensure a fair and transparent outcome.
This situation has left thousands of aspirants in limbo, awaiting appointments that have been delayed due to the ongoing investigations. The commission’s responsibility to finalise these results is a critical step toward restoring trust in the recruitment process.

Govt’s green signal for 2,000 new jobs
While the recruitment process for earlier posts remains stalled, the state government has moved forward with plans to create new job opportunities. The cabinet’s approval for nearly 2,000 posts is a positive development, yet the CBT-based recruitment process under the State Selection Commission remains in a state of uncertainty.
On July 30, the Himachal Pradesh State Selection Commission received the green signal to declare the results for over 2,000 posts across 21 post codes. These include key positions such as Lab Assistant in the Forensic Services Department, Assistant Computer Programmer in the Land Records Department and Hostel Superintendent & PTI in the Technical Education & Vocational Training Department.
The commission also has the task of declaring results for various jobs in departments like Food Civil Supplies, Fisheries, Printing & Stationery, and Municipal Corporations.
