Shiv Pratap Shukla says not all media houses have the courage to walk that extra mile for the society
Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla congratulated The Newz Radar for its social initiative ‘TNR Shining Star Awards-Celebrating Excellence’, saying not all media houses thought about working beyond their visible line of duty.
“There are so many media houses in the country, but not all are organising such events that can bring about a positive change in the society. The Newz Radar deserves special praise for taking up such an initiative and encouraging the meritorious students, who are the future of Himachal as well as the country. I wish The Newz Radar best for its future,” the Governor said as he addressed TNR Shining Star Awards at a packed Gaiety Theatre in Shimla on Monday (August 5).
The Governor also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the meritorious students who were honoured. The ceremony celebrated the academic excellence of the students from Shimla district who had scored over 90 per cent marks in their Class X and Class XII board examinations.
For The Newz Radar, the leading and only English digital news network based in Himachal Pradesh, it was the ceremony number 10 and the last for 2024. In its social initiative, Team Newz Radar received active support from Guru Study Centre, a coaching institute based at Kachcheri Adda in Dharamshala (Kangra) that prepares students for NEET, IIT and other medical and non-medical entrance examinations.
Prior to Shimla, similar district-level awards ceremonies were organised in Dharamshala (Kangra district), Chamba, Kullu, Mandi, Bilaspur, Una, Hamirpur, Nahan (Sirmaur) and Solan. Among other dignitaries, Himachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri and Cabinet Ministers Rajesh Dharmani and Harshwardhan Chauhan have graced these functions as Chief Guests.
The aim behind organising the TNR Shining Star Awards is to connect with bright young minds and foster a constructive society, says Sunil Chadha, Executive Editor at The Newz Radar. He avers that it’s a must to honour students, their parents and teachers who have worked hard for years to achieve such academic milestones.
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri recently lauded Team Newz Radar for its innovative social initiative TNR Shining Star Awards. Mukesh Agnihotri had praised TNR Political Editor S Gopal Puri and Executive Editor Sunil Chadha, emphasising their remarkable accomplishments in journalism at a young age and their efforts to drive social change through the event.
