Himachal’s former Chief Minister and opposition leader Jai Ram Thakur commended the strong leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while also praising former Deputy Prime Minister Lal Krishna Advani for being honoured with the Bharat Ratna.
He was speaking at a public rally in Dharamshala on February 3.
Thakur, however, did not hold back in his criticism of the Congress party, accusing them of lacking confidence in their own ministers and legislators.
He alleged that the promises made by the Congress-led state government, particularly in providing one lakh jobs within a year, have not been fulfilled, leaving the public disillusioned.
The former Chief Minister also raised concerns about the state of affairs in Himachal Pradesh, pointing to the ongoing strike by government employees demanding timely payment of DA, arrears, and salaries.
Thakur questioned the government’s decision to conduct surveillance on some legislators’ phones and questioned the closure of institutions and cancellation of BJP-initiated projects.
Highlighting issues like the shutdown of Himkirti and discontinuation of BJP’s schemes, Thakur accused the government of stifling dissent by restricting the right to protest in Shimla.
He emphasized the need for thoughtful governance and suggested that the future looks bleak for those aligning with the Congress party. The rally concluded with Thakur asserting that the Congress has woven a web of false guarantees and deceit, vowing that those who entered power through falsehoods would soon be ousted.
