A Himachal Pradesh government food inspector posted in Kangra’s Sansarpur Terrace industrial area was allegedly assaulted by three youths after he challaned them for using banned plastic carry bags.
The food inspector, Lavneet Dogra, sustained injuries in the attack, which occurred while he was returning from an inspection. Following the assault, the three accused fled the scene in a jeep.
According to police reports, Dogra was conducting routine inspections at local shops ahead of the festive season when he confiscated banned polythene bags and plastic cups from a sweet shop in Ridi Kuthera village.

A fine of Rs 3,000 was imposed, with the shopkeeper promising payment the next day. The next day, the shopkeeper arrived with another local businessman, who paid the fine but soon began arguing with the inspector and ultimately left without resolving the payment.
The situation escalated later that evening. While Dogra was en route to Paragpur, a jeep intercepted him near Kartar filling station, roughly 1 km from Sansarpur Terrace. The youths, allegedly including the shopkeeper, blocked his vehicle, confronted him aggressively and eventually assaulted him.
In the scuffle, the inspector’s clothes were torn and his mobile phone was snatched, with the assailants deleting photographic evidence of the plastic materials seized during the inspection.
Dogra subsequently lodged a complaint at Dehra police station. Dehra DSP Anil Thakur confirmed that a case had been registered against the accused, and an investigation was underway to bring the culprits to justice.
