Himachal folk singer ‘Nati King’ Kuldeep Sharma to be honoured in British Parliament

Himachal Pradesh’s renowned folk singer Kuldeep Sharma, who is famous as ‘Nati King’, is set to receive a prestigious honour at the House of Commons, the lower house of the British Parliament.

This recognition will be bestowed upon him by the World Book of Records during a ceremony scheduled to take place in London on July 18. Kuldeep Sharma will make history as the first folk singer to be honoured in the esteemed International Exchange Award programme.

The accolade comes as a tribute to Kuldeep Sharma’s significant contributions in promoting the rich cultural heritage and melodious music of the hill folk, both within the country and on the global stage. The World Book of Records extended an official invitation to Kuldeep Sharma, acknowledging his remarkable efforts in spreading Himachali folk culture and music worldwide.

The ceremony is slated to commence at 6.30 pm on July 18 in the illustrious Churchill Room of the House of Commons. Prior to this honour, Kuldeep Sharma had already received a letter of appreciation from the World Book of Records, recognising his outstanding achievements and dedication to preserving and promoting traditional folk music.

Beyond the boundaries of Himachal Pradesh, Kuldeep Sharma’s musical prowess has transcended geographical confines, as he has enthralled audiences in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Delhi and even overseas in Dubai, all while showcasing the vibrant tapestry of Himachali folk culture.

His contributions to the realm of music have been duly recognised through various awards, including the prestigious titles of Himachal Shri, Best Singer of Himachal and Voice of Himachal.
