Says people have reaffirmed confidence in Modi’s leadership, policies
MANDI: Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister and Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur has extended heartfelt congratulations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the BJP’s sweeping victory in Haryana, securing a third consecutive mandate.
Speaking to reporters in Mandi after a successful party digital membership campaign, Thakur emphasised that the people of Haryana had once again endorsed the policies of the Modi-led central government, further cementing their faith in its governance.
Victory defies exit poll predictions
During the informal interaction, Jai Ram pointed out that pre-election exit polls had largely predicted a Congress win in Haryana, a forecast that was ultimately proven wrong.
“The election results show that the people of Haryana have not just given a verdict in favour of the BJP, but they have expressed their unwavering trust in Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for the third time in a row,” he stated. He credited this win to the strong governance model and the various initiatives taken by the Modi government.

Jai Ram also praised the BJP’s strong electoral showing in Jammu and Kashmir. He noted that early indications from the region suggested an increase in BJP seats, reflecting the party’s growing appeal even in challenging territories. “The performance in Jammu and Kashmir is a testament to the party’s widening influence and the public’s trust in our leadership,” he added.
Membership drive nears 16 lakh milestone
Jai Ram provided an update on the BJP’s digital membership drive in Himachal Pradesh, highlighting the overwhelming enthusiasm, particularly among the youth. The party is fast approaching its target of 16 lakh members, with over 10 lakh already enrolled. Jai Ram remarked that young people are eager to join the world’s largest political party, seeing it as an opportunity to contribute to the nation’s progress under a dynamic leadership.
On the occasion, prominent leaders such as BJP Sadar MLA Anil Sharma, Mandi district BJP president Nihal Chand Sharma and state secretary Payal Vaidya were present, expressing optimism about the party’s future trajectory in the state and beyond.
