Himachal DGP approaches Supreme Court to challenge HC decision

Himachal HC dismissed recall application of DGP, Kangra SP

Shimla: Himachal DGP Sanjay Kundu has approached the Supreme Court to challenge the dismissal of his recall application by Himachal High Court. Kundu’s case is yet to be listed at the apex court.

Kundu and Kangra SP Shalini Agnihotri had filed applications with the Himachal High Court on January 4 seeking that their transfer orders by HC from their respective postings be recalled. The applications were dismissed by the HC on January 9.

The HC, while dismissing the applications, had directed the setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to inquire into the allegations levelled by businessman Nishant Sharma. The SIT has to submit its inquiry report to the HC on February 28. The court had also directed that Sharma be provided security.

Kundu had approached the Supreme Court earlier too when the Himachal HC had ordered that he be removed as DGP. The apex court had, on January 3, granted a stay on the order removing Kundu and had directed him to approach the HC. The Himachal HC was directed to decide on this matter within two weeks. However, the HC did not rule in favour of Kundu and Kangra SP.
