SHIMLA: The Himachal Congress is looking to put up a grand show at the Police Ground in Dharamshala on Monday (December 11, 2023) where it is organising a rally to mark the completion of Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu government’s one year in power.
The responsibility of organising the function was entrusted to a committee headed by Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi. Seating arrangements have been made for about 30,000 people at the venue. Duties have been assigned to Congress leaders of Kangra to ferry maximum people while each of the party’s 40 MLAs have been told to ferry at least 500 supporters from their respective constituencies.
The leaders from districts adjoining Kangra, including Chamba, Una and Hamirpur, have been told to bring the maximum people. The Himachal Road Transport Corporation has provided about 900 buses to the Congress for the programme.
Congress’ state in-charge Rajeev Shukla will also participate in the one-year programme while there is suspense on whether Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, who reached her cottage near Shimla on Sunday night, would attend the function or not. At the event, CM Sukhu will present the report card of his government’s one year in power.
Before leaving for Dharamshala, CM Sukhu prayed at the Jakhu temple with his life and his principal media adviser, Naresh Chauhan. All top Congress leaders of Himachal will participate in the event.
For this programme, Chief Minister Sukhu had invited Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi and Rajiv Shukla, among other leaders. Rahul Gandhi is not attending this programme as he is abroad.
